Successful completion of this AMA Defensive Driving Course provides a 3-Point Demerit.*Demerit credit is subject to the following conditions:
- The Course Completion Certificate is valid for 2 years from the date of issue
- Demerit credit may only be applied for once in a 2 year period
- Credit is only given when an individual has at least 2 and less than 14 demerits on
their driving record

The AMA Defensive Driving course can be taken as many times as it takes you to pass but you'll need to pay for the course again if you don't pass the final exam on your second attempt.
Now that I've finished the course what's next?
Upon completion of the AMA Defensive Driving course we'll send you a Notice of Driver Education Course Completion Certificate. Take this certificate to an Alberta Registries Private Issuing Agency to receive your demerit credit. Certificates will be ready in 3 - 5 business days after course completion.
