FAQ's

1. How long will the course take to complete?
The length of the course is a standard 6 hours (which is required by law), with the material broken down into 7 easy-to-navigate chapters. Testing time is not included, though.

2. How do I sign up for Defensive Driving Online?
It couldn't be easier! Since you're already here, all you have to do is click the "Register Now" button, fill out the form, and you can get started right away!

3.What is the cost of the course?
The Alberta Defensive Driving Course costs a flat fee of $99(US Dollar), plus $4.95 GST. This includes the interactive modules, the audio read-along feature, the final exam, and the certificate of completion.

4. What happens after I complete the course?
Once you've passed your final exam, you will be issued a Course Completion Certificate. Present your Certificate to an authorized Alberta Registries agency for your demerit credit.

5. There seems to be a problem with the clock on this course.
It's important to note that, although the course length is a standard 6 hours long, that does not factor in the time you spend on the tests. Because the tests are not timed, you are able to take all the time you need on them.

6. What if I have questions, or need some help?
Simple: All you need to do is telephone us at (888) 300-2139, or click the Live Chat icon for immediate assistance from our 24/7 dedicated support staff.

7. Do I have to do the course all at one time?
Nope. The beauty of an online course is that you get to study whenever it's convenient for you. Some people like to do it all in one chunk. Others like to chip away at it, 5 minutes at a time, over the course of a month. You just have to complete everything by the due date – the rest is up to you.

8. How many times can I take the final exam?
If you don't pass your quizzes or the final exam on your first try, there's no reason to worry. You're able to retake the quizzes, over and over, until you pass them. And if you happen to score below an 80% on the final, you are granted one free retake.

9. How often can I do the course?
The Alberta Defensive Driving Course can be taken once every 2 years to remove 3 points from your driving record.

10. What grade do I need to pass the course?
The final exam is 40 questions long. In order to pass the course, you will need to answer 32 questions correctly (80%). If you get less than 80% on your first attempt, not to worry – you are permitted one retake, absolutely free!

11. What is the difference between the classroom and the online defensive driving course?
With an online course, you skip the classroom completely. You have the freedom to study whenever you want, and anywhere you can get an internet connection. By giving you the opportunity to study when you want, you're more likely to absorb the lessons and complete the course as a safer driver!
